The 2005 Youth Conservation Corps crew completed the 56-mile boundary posting effort at the Nulhegan Division in summer 2005. In Fall 2003, Refuge staff, volunteers, and Regional Office employees started the boundary posting effort by posting approximately 5 miles of boundary. In summer 2004, the crew spent 2 weeks posting an additional 21 miles of boundary! A fall crew of YCC crewleaders posted approximately 24 additional miles of boundary and in summer 2005, the crew posted the final 4 miles of boundary and all inholdings. There is less than one mile of boundary left to complete due to potential for adjacent land purchases. The 2005 YCC crew completed this multi-year project and got to see some beautiful country in the process. Fording the Nulhegan river in several locations proved to be their biggest challenge in completing this project.
