Red Sox Fans View World Series Trophy, World Class Exhibits at Conte Refuge
Northeast Region, April 3, 2005
Print Friendly Version
Over 350 Red Sox fans turned out on a beautiful spring Sunday morning to get a glimpse of history on April 3. The World Series trophy that had long eluded the Boston Red Sox? grasp made a tour stop at Turner's Falls, Mass. When State Representative Steven Kulik arranged for his constituents to get a peek, he chose the Great Falls Discovery Center at Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge as the perfect venue.

The relatively new visitor center, a cooperative venture between the Service, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, and the Town of Montague's Economic Development and Industrial Corporation, greatly benefited from the exposure gained during this unusual event. The fans also benefited -- 50 visitors came, got photos of the trophy, and then wandered through the historic mill buildings to view exhibits depicting habitats of the Connecticut River watershed.
