San Juan River Basin Recovery Implementation Program Meetings

The Biology, Hydrology and Coordination committees of the San Juan River Basin Recovery Implementation Program met during February 2005. The Program addresses the recovery of the endangered Colorado pikeminnow and razorback sucker. This drainage is a tributary of the Colorado River, primarily in northwest New Mexico, and includes Colorado and Utah. The Biology Committee met Feb. 15-16 in Farmington, New Mexico to discuss progress toward recovery. Discussion items included the status of the fish, research, monitoring, and requests for proposals, budget and upcoming events. The Hydrology Committee met Feb.17 in Farmington, New Mexico. The Committee provided a workshop on the Hydrology Model used to model flows in the San Juan River and included discussions about the future hydrology model, specific water development projects, and the status of river flows. The Coordination Committee met Feb. 23, in Farmington, New Mexico. Discussion included ongoing activities, reports from committees, the budget for fiscal Year 2005 and 2006, status of request for proposals, the visit to Washington D.C. to Congressional staffs and workplans.
