Anahuac NWR Volunteers Honored at Annual Banquet
Southwest Region, November 6, 2004
Print Friendly Version
The Anahuac NWR hosted their annual volunteer banquet on November 6, 2004 to honor and recognize an outstanding group of refuge volunteers. In Fiscal Year 2004, 327 volunteers contributed 9,678 hours to a variety of refuge programs and activities. Among those were 10 RV volunteers who spent a good part of the winter months with us and participated in constructing the concrete walkway through the butterfly garden, keeping the Visitor Information Station staffed, banding geese and helping with the outdoor education program. Other volunteer groups and individuals were involved in native prairie restoration, bird banding, exotic plant control, visitor services (including special events), the education program, and much more.

Special recognition went to the following for reaching volunteer hour milestones: 50 hours - Bill Bakal, Cecilia Bass, Chris Campbell, Ken Grau, Toni Marchetti, John Martinez, John Meekins, Oyster Bayou Hunting Club, Security State Bank, Willis ISD 200 hours - Sissy Janes, Boy Scout Troop 1000, Tarkington High School 500 hours - Diana Fendley, Bill Gray, Marilyn Kirkus 1000 hours - Jerry Millsaps 8000 hours - Lu Skillern

Anahuac NWR's volunteers are an invaluable resource who are truly making a difference.
