Southeast Region, October 2, 2004
Print Friendly Version
A dune, sand-fencing and beach vegetation greeted visitors to the ?Breton Tent? at Wild Things at Southeast Louisiana Refuges in Lacombe, LA on October 2. The theme was the 100th Anniversary of the establishment of Breton National Wildlife Refuge, the system's second-oldest refuge. 2500 visitors enjoyed 27 guest exhibitors and featured speakers, music, food and drink from The Friends of LA Wildlife Refuges, canoe and pontoon boat tours on Bayou Lacombe, and the Jr. Firefighting Academy. Teddy Roosevelt was even on the scene in Nomex, posing for photos with the kids and fire staff!
