National Wildlife Refuge Week Openhouse at Lower Suwannee and Cedar Key Refuges
Southeast Region, October 15, 2004
Print Friendly Version
This year National Wildlife Refuge Week highlighted special anniversaries for both Lower Suwannee (25th) and Cedar Keys (75th) NWRs. Seahorse Key Lighthouse Openhouse was a big success with boats continually bringing visitors from the popular destination of Cedar Key over to the refuge island where exhibits and touch-tanks awaited. Assistant Manager Mike Mitchell gave presentations about the history of the station and the light keepers who staffed it. Friends of the Refuges and the Refuge Ranger staffed the interactive exhibit, which was enjoyed by young and old alike.
