Public Use Restrictions These restrictions have been lifted for the entire Forest. The following are prohibited on the Malheur National Forest and that portion of the Emigrant Ranger District on the Ochoco National Forest: Campfires, Wood Stoves or Briquette Fires Not Allowed except in designated recreation sites. Liquefied and bottle gas stoves and heaters may be used. Use of Chainsaws, Generators, or other Internal Combustion Engines, other then motor vehicles, except electrical generators that are operated in areas that are barren or have been cleared of flammable material at least 10 feet in diameter, or are fully contained within a pickup truck bed that is devoid of all flammable material. Factory installed electrical generators in recreational vehicles may be operated when the exhaust discharge is located in the center of an area at least 10 feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable material. Motorized Travel Off Developed Forest Roads and Trails, except for the purpose of going to and from a campsite located within 300 feet of the open developed road, provided the route is free of tall grass. Motorized Travel On Roads Closed by Gates, Barricades, Berms, Rocks or Logs.
Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, designated recreation site or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable material.
