Personal Use Firewood Cutting Guidelines 2007
Forest Service personnel will periodically visit the unit to answer
questions and to
check on the compliance with these guidelines to the cutting unit.
• No cutting of standing trees – all wood to be removed
is already on the ground.
• Fire wood area is approximately 7 miles North of Woodland
Park
• Load tags must be filled out and attached to load before leaving
unit.
Access is from Highway 67 turn West onto county road 78, go a ½
mile to County Road 782.
Drive carefully and obey the 20mph speed limit.
Do not drive across the meadows or areas of pine regeneration.
Unit is only open from sunrise to sunset.
Vehicles are allowed off the roadway within the unit.
Vehicle use will be restricted to roadways if excessive off road damage
is occurring.
ATVs and bobcat/skidsteers are not allowed.
Aspen is not to be removed from the unit.
If the unit is shut down due to weather the Forest Service may allow
additional time
on permits. This can be verified by calling the Pikes Peak District
Office.
Firewood shall be cut into lengths shorter than 8 feet before removal
from unit.
No camping within the unit.
No campfires.
No fence cutting.
Remove your litter from the unit.
Do not block roadways.
Respect the adjoining private property.
