Spanish Creek Fire

The Monument Fire Center

The Pike Hotshots and Monument Helitack are stationed at the Monument Fire Center (MFC) adjacent to the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The compound is approximately 1,000 acres located on the Pikes Peak Ranger District on the Pike National Forest. The compound has:

  • Housing available for 20 people
  • Classroom for training
  • Weight room
  • Fire cache
  • Office space
  • Over 26 miles of trails

The MFC is three miles west of Monument, Colorado at an elevation of 7,256 feet. Monument maintains a small town atmosphere with a historic district but also has a newer commercial district bordering the interstate. Denver is 40 miles north and Colorado Springs is 17 miles south. The location of the compound gives it a rural feel even though it is within an one hour drive of both Denver and Colorado Springs, a combined metropolitan population of roughly 3 million people.
