Educational Resources
The Tongass National Forest abounds in resources that draw kids of all
ages. The Forest Service, either on its own or in partnership with other
organizations, offers lots of windows into those resources and their management
challenges.
- Migration
Science and Mystery (opens in new window) follows the shorebirds
north from Panama to the Arctic Slope of Alaska. Offers lesson plans,
videos, other learning opportunities. Live Web chat about the Stikine
River Delta on May 3, 2007.
- America's
Rain Forests (opens in new window) explores rain forests
in Puerto Rico, Washington and Alaska. Offers lesson plans and reference
materials. Live broadcast for this program occurred on October 14, 2005;
DVD or videotape is available, with a Webcase of the introduction also
available on-line.
- Projects
on Prince of Wales Island include a number of activities
and resources.

Self-guided Birdwatching at Mendenhall guides walkers along
the easy Moraine Ecology Trail near the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.

Walk over the Trail of Time explains the geologic history
of the land recently exposed by the Mendenhall Glacier's retreat and
its colonizing plants and animals.
