Office Hours Change at Los Prietos Ranger Station
The US Forest Service's Los Prietos Ranger Station, located 3505
Paradise Road, has switched to its winter operating schedule and
is now open weekdays only, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Station staff
provide forest visitors with recreation information, campfire permits
and Adventure Passes. A variety maps and informative books about
Los Padres National Forest are available for purchase.
On weekends during the winter season, forest visitors can obtain
Adventure Passes, information and assistance from the following
two locations: the Rocky Mountain Recreation Company office at Paradise
Campground, and the information kiosk at the first river crossing.
Both locations are open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Los Prietos Ranger Station serves as the headquarters for the Santa
Barbara Ranger District. The facility has been undergoing major
reconstruction over the past year to improve service to the public
and upgrade outdated administrative offices. Construction of the
visitor center portion of the building is complete and the public
can again use the parking lot and entrance at the front of the building.
Los Prietos Ranger Station is located approximately 3 miles from
Highway 154 in the Lower Santa Ynez River Recreation Area. For further
information, call (805) 967-3481.
