Fabian Garcia - Program Director

Provides overall program leadership and coordination for matters relating to the implementation of the SCC. Aligns the program with the goals and objectives of the US Forest Service GPRA Strategic Plan, Presidential Executive Orders, and the Regional Forester's partnership and collaboration priority. Serves as principle liaison between government agencies, non-profit organizations, local businesses, school districts, as well as colleges and universities.  Collaborates to develop supportive services, outreach, recruitment, and career/school counseling to the urban areas.

Angelica Garcia- Program Specialist

  • UCLA – BA in Psychology and minor in Education
  • Cal State Los Angeles- Masters of Science Degree in Counseling, with an Option in Behavior Intervention Case Management, PPS/CWA

Prepares and administers grants and agreements involving universities, companies, foundations, non-profits, individuals, states, and other federal agencies. Develops, coordinates, and administers a summer leadership program for high school students to expose them to the US Forest Service and other natural resource agencies. Serves as editor of the SCC quarterly newsletter and writes press releases, letters of support, articles, and program marketing materials. Maintains an electronic contact database and distributes information to partners.

Angelina Rios - Intern Coordinator

  •  Experience in administration, budget and  public relations

Responsible for placing students into the Student Temporary Experience Program (STEP) and Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) positions within the Forest Service.  Maintains a database of students placed, informs students of employment opportunities, and guides students through the application process. Plans and organizes community outreach events, career training workshops, and program events such as the Intern Award Ceremony. Also serves as office manager, coordinating all work pertaining to office organization.

Victor Rios- Marketing Intern

  • College of the Canyons- Majoring in Communication Arts

Creates program marketing materials such as display boards, flash presentations, and brochures. Creates template for the quarterly SCC newsletter. Develops and maintains the SCC web page, illustrating current and past program activities. Assists SCC director in development of innovative and creative marketing strategies.

Nadine Barragan- Budget Analyst Intern

  • Whittier College- Pursuing BA in Public Policy and the Individual

Responsible for budget inspection, analyzes and prepares bimonthly financial reports, reconciles accounts, analyzes transactions for accounting errors, prepares travel vouchers, and payroll. Assists the Job Intern Coordinator in tracking students placed and guiding students through the application process. Creates developmental workshops that focus on resume building, interview skills, networking, and careers in natural resources.
