Port of San Ysidro - Otay Mesa, California

Located at the southern reach of San Diego, CA, this port serves the busiest land border crossing in the world. This crossing consists of 12 primary POV inspection lanes, 30 secondary inspection lanes, and one six-lane pedestrian entry facility. This facility was built in 1994 in response to the dramatic increase of commercial traffic following the implementation of North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). This facility houses all of the federal inspection agencies and features 11 commercial vehicle lanes fitted with radioactive sensing equipment, 104 unloading bays, three stationary vehicle x-ray machines, three mobile x-ray trucks, and one pallet x-ray machine. This facility also features three southbound lanes and approximately 30 loading docks.  The crossing handles all Mexico bound export traffic moving through the San Diego area. Brown Airfield, is the closest international airfield to the U.S./Mexico border in the San Diego area.  The field currently serves privately owned aircraft, commercial light airships, and various  military and government air operations.
