The selection process consists of several steps, all which must be successfully completed before a candidate may be considered for appointment as a police officer.  Generally, candidates must complete each step before being scheduled for the next step. Successful candidates may expect to make several visits to various testing sites during the process. (Note: the period for which test results are valid varies according to the test.)

Police officers may work different hours of the day, all days of the week, including holidays. Schedules are subject to change, and overtime is required at times.  Officers must be adaptable and willing to adjust to frequent compulsory changes in work shifts, work locations and other factors.  Police officers must be able to work under a great deal of pressure, yet still maintain a clear head and a positive attitude and work ethic.
