Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area
Fees & Reservations
The Recreation Fee Demonstration Program, passed by Congress, has been in existence since 1996. This program is designed to charge fees to visitors to help improve the visitor’s experience. One hundred percent of the money collected remains at Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area.
 

CAMPING FEES
Most sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. See Reservations for individual and group site reservations

Individual Campsites

  • $10.00 per night per campsite May 1 – September 30.
  • $5.00 per night per campsite October 1 - April 30.
  • There is no camping fee at boat-in only campgrounds
  • Payment: Cash or check.
  • No more than 2 vehicles (for example a truck and a boat trailer or an RV and a car or two cars) and no more than 10 people at each campsite.
  • Valid America the Beautiful Senior and Access Pass (formally Golden Age and Access Passport) holders receive a 50% discount.

 

RESERVATIONS

INDIVIDUAL CAMPSITES may be reserved from May 1 - September 30 at the following campgrounds:

Keller Ferry

Fort Spokane

Spring Canyon



 

GROUP CAMPSITES must be reserved. Group sites are located at the following campgrounds:

Fort Spokane   2 sites accommodates 30 people each 
Hunters  3 sites accommodates 25 people each 
Keller Ferry                               2 sites accommodates 25 people each                                 
Kettle Falls (Locust Grove)  2 sites accommodates 50 people each
Spring Canyon 1 site accommodates 25 people 
Evans 1 site accommodates 25 people
Gifford 1 site accommodates 50 people

  • There is no America the Beautiful Senior or Access Pass (formally Golden Age and Access Passport) discount on Group Site Reservations, however it can be used for one individual site.
  • Campsites must be reserved seven days in advance and there is a two-night minimum stay.
  • During holidays, there is a three-night minimum stay.
  • You can make up to 4 site reservations per phone call.
  • No site can be reserved for more than 14 days.
  • If a campsite has not been reserved via the reservation system it is on a first-come, first-serve basis as are all the other campsites in the park.

Individual campsites are $13.00 per site, per night.

Group fees:

  • 1 to 25 people =$53.00
  • 26 to 50 people =$78.00
  • 51 to 75 people =$103.00

 

BOATING FEES

Boat Launch permits are required year-round at all Lake Roosevelt's National Park Service (NPS) boat launches, regardless of boat type.

Daily Pass

  • $6.00 for 7 consecutive days
  • Available at each boat launch
  • Payment: Cash or check

Seasonal Pass –

  • Good from purchase date until December 31st of the same year.
  • $30.00 January 1 – April 30, 2009
  • $40.00 May 1 – September 30, 2009
  • $20.00 October – December 31, 2009
  • Payment: Cash or check
  • Available:
    In person at any of the three District Offices or seasonally at the Fort Spokane Visitor Center or the Kettle Falls Information Station.

    By Mail*, send a self addressed stamped envelope to National Park Service Headquarters with personal or cashier's check, payable to the National Park Service. Include your America the Beautiful Senior or Access Pass (formally Golden Age and Access Passport) number, if you have one, for a 50% discount. Purchase a permit or pass in person at the following areas Monday-Friday, 8AM-4PM.

SHORELINE CAMPING

  • There is no fee for shoreline camping
  • Shoreline camping and camping aboard a vessel is permitted only in National Park Service boat-in sites and undeveloped areas provided the undeveloped site is 1/2 mile from a developed area.
  • This does not include boaters possessing a valid boat moorage agreement with an authorized concessionaire or community access point for moorage.
  • Fires are NOT permitted on exposed lake bed from May 1st through November 1st.
  • The use of stoves or lanterns is permitted:
           • When using Hibachi-type stoves using charcoal only
           • When using gas stoves or lanterns
  • When shoreline camping, all charcoal ashes must be packed out and disposed of in park trash receptacles after ensuring that they are completely extinguished.
  • When shoreline camping, or camping aboard vessels, all persons will have a means of containing solid human wastes such as a U.S. Coast Guard approved marine sanitation device.
  • Use of a plastic bag as a receptacle does not meet this requirement. When camping at a designated boat-in campground where toilets are provided, possession of marine sanitation devices or portable toilets is not required.

Did You Know?
When the Grand Coulee Dam was finished and the lake filled, 11 towns were submerged. Every structure was cleared or burned. Soon, the rising waters covered the forlorn concrete foundations with water and darkness. Some towns died, others were built above the new lake, replacing what was lost.
