In this letter Flexner, the long-time director of the Rockefeller Institute of Medical Research and the former boss of both Heidelberger and the Nobel-prize winning immunologist Karl Landsteiner, made suggestions for an obituary of Landsteiner which Heidelberger was writing for publication in Science. Landsteiner died on June 26, 1943.
