Management

Boston National Historical Park is an association of sites that tell the story of Boston in the American Revolution and the Navy’s role in preserving the principles of freedom that were the basis of the nation. It was designated a national park on October 1, 1974.

The park is distinctive, mixing historic buildings and landscapes owned by the city, the state, the federal government, and private organizations.

Did You Know?
Did you know that the financing for The Bunker Hill Monument was a hand-to-mouth project, culminating in a bake sale in 1840, three years before the dedication? By contrast, The Dorchester Heights Monument was financed by an appropriation from the Massachusetts Legislature amounting to $100,000.
