Comments: The I-205 bike/ped path is closed between Clackamas Town Center and Division Street due to TriMet's light-rail project. Due to TriMet's light rail construction along I-205, the multi-use path is closed to thru traffic between SE Caruthers Street, just north of SE Division Street, and SE Sunnyside Road adjacent to Clackamas Town Center. The path is expected to reopen, with improvements, early in 2009. An alternative route that parallels I-205 is available for pedestrians, cyclists and people using mobility devices. Comments: Intermittent lane closures are expected on local streets and ramps during the week of May 9-16. A contractor is working on a project to widen I-5 between Victory Boulevard and Lombard Street. The 1.2-mile project includes adding a third lane to southbound I-5, constructing a new southbound entrance ramp bridge at Columbia Boulevard, widening bridges and adding shoulders to northbound I-5. Lane closures on I-5 will only take place during nighttime hours, generally between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. The afternoon of Monday, May 11, the contractor will open the newly constructed Columbia Boulevard entrance to I-5 southbound. The contractor may temporarily close the Columbia Boulevard on-ramp to remove barricades before the opening of the newly constructed entrance ramp. During the week of May 9-16, the contractor will work on building new bridge alignments and installing illumination throughout the project area. During daytime work hours there will be periodic lane closures on Schmeer Road, Columbia Boulevard and the Columbia Boulevard to I-5 southbound on-ramp. Watch for shoulder closures on the northbound I-5 Victory Boulevard off-ramp. Flaggers will be on site to direct motorists and bicyclists during these lane closures. Flaggers will control one-way traffic on Highway 213; during the paving work motorists traveling northbound will use the southbound lane. Monday, May 11, through Friday, May 15, the contractor will replace sidewalks between Beavercreek Road and Conway during daytime work hours. Comments: Be aware of new lane configurations on Highway 217 northbound to U.S. 26. A contractor is working on a project to add a third through-lane to Highway 217 northbound between Highway 8 (Tualatin-Valley Highway) and U.S. 26 (Sunset Highway). This project also includes building retaining walls and improving drainage on the highway, lengthening the Wilshire St. overpass, and paving and striping the project area and the Highway 217/U.S. 26 interchange ramps. Lane closures on Highway 217 will only take place during nighttime hours of 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. The contractor recently completed installation of temporary concrete barriers and striping through the project area. Motorists should watch for temporary lane restrictions as well as permanent changes to the lane configurations. These changes included shifting northbound traffic to the west to create a work zone along the right shoulder. Additionally, only one lane will connect Highway 217 northbound to U.S. 26 eastbound. The center lane of Highway 217 northbound will now only continue north to Barnes Rd. and will not connect to U.S. 26 eastbound. These new lane configurations will be in place for the duration of the project. The contractor will continue to prepare the project area and begin building a retaining wall on Highway 217 near the Walker Rd. on-ramp north to the Wilshire Street overpass the week of Monday, May 11, to Friday, May 15. This work will take place during daytime work hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The contractor has canceled rock blasting until further notice. Once the rock blasting is scheduled, ODOT will issue traffic advisories to warn motorists and neighbors of the rock blasting. Lane closures will only take place during nighttime hours. Normal daytime work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, May 11, to Friday, May 15. On Monday, May 11, the contractor will close the on and off-ramp to southbound Highway 99E, south of the viaducts between S.E. Division Place and S.E. Ivon Street. The on and off-ramp will remain open during the closure. Motorists traveling to and from Highway 99E southbound will be detoured to S.E. 4th Avenue. The partial on and off-ramp closure will be in effect until July. The contractor will continue working on the construction of bridge footings and columns for the new southbound Highway 99E (MLK Jr. Boulevard) bridge structure during daytime work hours. False work construction will require intermittent one-way traffic controlled by flaggers on Division Street between SE 3rd Avenue and SE 7th Avenue. The column and footings construction work will require the closure of Caruthers Street under the viaducts. Bikes and motor traffic will be detoured around the construction work during the Caruthers Street closure. The contractor has closed the ramp connecting westbound Division Street to northbound Highway 99E (Grand Avenue). This ramp is scheduled to be closed until 2010 to allow crews to remove the existing northbound viaduct and build a new structure. During the ramp closure, motorists will be directed to take Division Street to northbound 7th Avenue to westbound Clay Street to northbound Highway 99E (Grand Avenue).
