NRCS Texas Announces Sign-up for the New Conservation Stewardship Program

NRCS state conservationist for Texas, Don Gohmert, announced a sign-up beginning on Aug. 10, 2009, for the new Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) to assist agricultural and forestry producers. CSP is a new program authorized in the 2008 Farm Bill.

Texas Receives $10.4 Million for Water Conservation Projects

The USDA-NRCS is making $10.4 million available through the Agricultural Water Enhancement Program (AWEP) for five water conservation and water quality projects on Texas agricultural working lands.

Funding Available for Texas Grassland Owners

Grassland owners in south Texas, the area hardest hit by the state’s drought, will be given priority consideration to participate in USDA’s Grassland Reserve Program (GRP), a $4.2 million conservation program in Texas.

Technical and Financial Assistance to Fight Cattle Fever Tick Available Through USDA-NRCS

The USDA-NRCS is providing technical and financial assistance to ranchers in a 17-county area to help fight the spread of the cattle fever tick.
