The new Conservation Stewardship Program encourages producers to adopt new conservation practices or improve and maintain existing conservation practices to address resource concerns.  It is a voluntary conservation program available nationwide on a continuous application basis.  NRCS will provide financial and technical assistance to eligible producers to conserve and enhance soil, water, air and related natural resources on their land.

4 Idaho Water Conservation Projects Receive Funding From USDA

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service Chief Dave White yesterday announced which water conservation and water quality projects on agricultural working lands will receive national funding.  Nearly $58 million was made available for 63 projects in 21 states through the Agricultural Water Enhancement Program.  Idaho will receive $6.9 million to fund four projects.

Funds Available to Improve Wildlife Habitat on Private Lands

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service will have an additional sign-up period in fiscal year 2009 for the Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP) to implement conservation practices related to improving wildlife habitat on private lands.  The application period is open for three weeks beginning June 15 and ending July 6.
