Request a payment estimate

Why

You can request an estimate of your pension benefits in order to obtain information about what the amount of your pension benefit would be at different dates in the future.

If you wish to begin receiving your pension benefit within the next four months, PBGC strongly recommends that you request an estimate before you apply for your pension.

We will ask you to provide us the dates at which you want your benefit calculated. If you are married, we will ask you for information about your spouse. If you wish to provide benefits for someone who is not your spouse, we will also ask you for information about that person.

What you will receive from PBGC (by mail):

  • You can expect to receive your estimate from PBGC within 15 to 45 days from the date of your request. If it will take longer than 45 days to send you a benefit estimate, we will contact you.
  • Your estimate will show you what the amount of your payment(s) would be for each possible form of benefit on the date you want your benefits to start. You can find out about the annuity forms available to you here: Your PBGC Benefit Options: Questions and Answers for Participants
