Recent Additions
This website now features detailed descriptions of federal environmental research and monitoring programs operating in the mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. In addition, visitors to the site can query the mid-Atlantic database by creating multiple combinations of search criteria. Please click "Mid-Atlantic Inventory" and "Mid-Atlantic Queries" to explore these features. The White House Committee on the Environment and Natural Resources (CENR) has selected the mid-Atlantic region to explore methods of integrating federal environmental research and monitoring activities. A major goal of this regional study is to achieve more comprehensive and cost-effective assessments of environmental conditions and processes. As a component of this study, the mid-Atlantic inventory was developed to facilitate the CENR's assessment of existing programs. Currently, this website displays maps and charts for 30 federal programs in the mid-Atlantic region. The federal component of the mid-Atlantic database is now complete at 175 programs; the full set of programs will be accessible on-line by April, 1998. Inclusion of state, local, and private environmental research and monitoring programs will be considered in a pilot study of Delaware in the spring of 1998. Please use our comments form to send any corrections in inventory information.
