IRONING TABLES AND CERTAIN PARTS THEREOF FROM CHINA INJURE U.S. INDUSTRY, SAYS ITC

 The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) today determined that a U.S. industry is materially injured or threatened with material injury by reason of imports of ironing tables and certain parts thereof from China that the U.S. Department of Commerce has determined are sold in the United States at less than fair value.

All six Commissioners voted in the affirmative.

As a result of the Commission's affirmative determination, the U.S. Department of Commerce will issue an antidumping order on imports of these products from China.

The Commission's public report Ironing Tables and Certain Parts Thereof from China (Investigation No. 731-TA-1047 (Final), USITC Publication 3711, July 2004) will contain the views of the Commission and information developed during the investigation.

Product Description: The products covered by this investigation are floor-standing, metal-top ironing tables, assembled or unassembled, and certain parts thereof originating from China. The subject tables are designed and used principally for the hand ironing or pressing of garments or other articles of fabric. The subject tables have full-height leg assemblies that support the ironing surface at an appropriate (often adjustable) height above the floor. The subject tables are produced in a variety of leg finishes, such as painted, plated, or matte, and they are available with various features, including iron rests, linen racks, and others. The subject ironing tables may be sold with or without a pad and/or cover.
