What services are provided?
The Bioinformatics Resource Centers (BRCs) collect, store, display, annotate, query, analyze, and update genomics and related data related to the NIAID Category A-C priority pathogens and emerging or re-emerging infectious diseases. In addition to performing genome annotation themselves, BRCs also solicit genome annotations from the research community. The BRCs portal site BRC Central.org (non-Government link) contains information about common data types and released software tools, presents search capabilities across the centers, and stores genome annotation files.
The BRCs provide training on the use and interpretation of the data contained in the database and the analysis tools available.
The BRCs are supported by multi-disciplinary teams consisting of microbiologists, including pathogen experts, bioinformaticians and computer scientists.

There are eight centers, each specializing in different pathogens.

Data are freely publicly available to the scientific community through user-friendly web interfaces.
