Strategic Plan 2007-2012
I am pleased to release the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) Strategic Plan for fiscal years 2007 through 2012. This plan builds upon the record-breaking progress the USPTO made during fiscal year 2006 in the areas of quality, production, electronic filing and processing, teleworking, and hiring.
In developing the new Strategic Plan, we solicited input from interested parties, including the public, stakeholders, and employees. We are grateful to our Patent Public Advisory Committee and the Trademark Public Advisory Committee for their insightful comments on a draft of the plan. We also posted the draft on our Web site, and published a Federal Register notice announcing its availability for review and comment. We established e-mail boxes and held special forums for the public and employees to provide input. Finally, we shared a draft of the plan with the Congress.
This Strategic Plan will evolve. We will refine and update it regularly to adjust to changing conditions and to incorporate the best thinking of the intellectual property community and beyond.
Thank you for your interest in the USPTO.
