The Helena National Forest offers a wide variety of recreational adventures. Among the more popular are camping, hiking, fishing, sightseeing, horseback riding, and picnicking.

Biking

There are numerous designated roads and trails on the Helena National Forest that provide mountain bike opportunities. Existing routes located on all three Ranger Districts offer enjoyable biking in a variety of mountain settings. More.

Cabins

There are seven administrative cabins available for public use on the Helena National Forest. These rustic cabins, rented for a small fee, offer a unique opportunity for primitive lodging. More.

Campgrounds and Picnic Areas

The Helena National Forest has several developed sites including family and group campgrounds. Most campgrounds are managed as fee sites open to the public from Memorial Day through mid-September. More.

Trails

The Helena National Forest manages over 1,000 miles of designated trails. These routes provide a variety of challenge and opportunities for activities such as: horseback riding, OHV use, hiking, mountain biking, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. More.

Sightseeing

Hiking and driving for pleasure are two of the most popular recreation activities on the Helena National Forest. They both provide excellent opportunities to view the abundant wildlife and spectacular scenery located throughout the Forest.More.
