The public health approach involves a circle of activities. There are six activities in all; they are, one, defining the problem; two, identifying its causes and protective factors; three, developing and testing intervention strategies; four, implementing strategies; five, evaluating the impact of interventions and surveillance monitoring; finally, six, redefining the problem, re-evaluating its causes, and refining interventions.
