Photo of Elena Fuentes-Afflick, MD, MPHDr. Fuentes-Afflick is Professor of Pediatrics, Epidemiology, and Biostatistics at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Fuentes-Afflick completed her residency and chief residency in Pediatrics at UCSF, San Francisco, followed by training in epidemiology and health policy. Dr. Fuentes-Afflick joined the faculty at the UCSF in 1993. Dr. Fuentes-Afflick has served on the National Advisory Council of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and is currently on the National Advisory Committee of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Clinical Scholars Program. Her research focuses on Latino health, with a specific interest in the impact of acculturation, immigration status, perinatal outcomes, and body mass. Dr. Fuentes-Afflick is President of the Society for Pediatric Research.
