Mountains - On Saturday March 14th, the final bald eagle count of the winter
was conducted by local Federal and State biologists and volunteers around lakes

Bernardino National Forest - The San Bernardino National Forest is pleased to
announce two projects funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
of 2009 that will create local jobs and promote economic recovery. (03/11)

Volunteers Needed to count Bald
Eagles March 14th - Volunteers are needed to help count Bald Eagles this
Saturday February 14th in the San Bernardino and San Jacinto Mountains.
Volunteers are stationed at various vantage points around the mountain lakes
where they map and note any eagle observations during a 1-hour period on a

Thurman Flats Picnic Area Closure
- San Bernardino National Forest’s Thurman Flats Picnic Area will be undergoing
major renovation and will be closed beginning February 3, 2009. (02/09)
- Volunteers Wanted for Bighorn
Sheep Survey - Volunteers are needed on February 28 and March 1,
2009 (Saturday evening and all day Sunday) to assist in the annual
survey of bighorn sheep in the San Gabriel Mountains. (01/30)
- San Bernardino National Forest
Resumes Winter Pile Burning - Fire crews are resuming winter
pile burning at various locations across the San Bernardino National
Forest. The favorable change in weather now provides opportunities
to resume annual winter pile burning activities on hazardous fuels
reduction projects on the forest. (01/20)
