Coconino National Forest to Hold Readiness Exercise

Flagstaff, AZ —Firefighters and personnel from Coconino National Forest will participate in an incident response exercise on May 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The exercise will focus on readiness and response to an aircraft accident and also a wildland fire associated with the aircraft accident.
The exercise will take place approximately 4 miles south of Mormon Lake off of Forest Road 127. An Incident Command Post will be established at the Mormon Lake Guard Station for purposes of the exercise.
The exercise will provide an opportunity to test response skills, training, and vital equipment needed during fire season and during initial responses to incidents within Coconino National Forest. The exercise will not include public notification and involvement as part of the exercise.
Media that are monitoring scanners on May 7 will see an increase of emergency traffic that is related to the exercise on local scanner channels 168.050, 168.200, 168.600 and national channel 168.350.
