MEMORANDUM

TO:       Designated Agency Ethics Officials

SUBJECT:  Ethics Workshops:  New York, June 17-18, 1998 


     The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) will conduct three
different introductory training workshops in New York, June 17-18,
1998.  Ethics officials are invited to attend any or all of the
scheduled workshops.  The introductory workshop titles, dates,
times and descriptions are listed below:

Post Employment               06/17/98   9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon

Misuse of Position            06/17/98   1:30 p.m. -  4:00 p.m.

OGE Form 450 Review Course    06/18/98   9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.


     The Post-Employment workshop will cover the post-employment
statute, 18 U.S.C. § 207, and will include student exercises and
group discussion.

     The Misuse of Position course provides a broad overview of
Subpart G and includes a four-step approach to determine whether
proposed actions are prohibited by the misuse subpart.

     The OGE Form 450 Review Course is designed for ethics
officials who have responsibility for reviewing the OGE Form 450
and advising employees about financial disclosure.

     All workshops are offered FREE to each agency.  However,
advance registration is required.  Each person planning to attend
MUST register by faxing a completed registration form to OGE by
Tuesday, June 9, 1998.  Registration will be handled on a first-come basis
and each workshop is limited to 45 participants.  NO
TELEPHONE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.  Registration forms are

     OGE will confirm each student's registration by return fax
prior to the date of the workshop.  Due to the large volume of
registrations, we ask that students NOT follow up on confirmations.

     Because you are our primary means for advertising workshops,
please circulate this memorandum with its attachments among your
ethics officials as soon as possible.

     OGE plans to conduct additional ethics training in the
following cities in FY 1998:

     Washington, DC 
     Chicago
