SUBJECT:  Availability of the Informal Advisory Letters and
          Memoranda and Formal Opinions of the United States Office
          of Government Ethics for the first half of 1998 


     The Office of Government Ethics (OGE) has placed the Informal
Advisory Letters and Memoranda and Formal Opinions of the United
States Office of Government Ethics for the first half of 1998 on
the OGE Web site at www.usoge.gov/opinions/opinlib.html.  These new
materials include letters and memoranda (guidance) issued by OGE
from January 1, 1998 through June 30, 1998.  The guidance is
available for viewing or downloading.  The on-line search
capability for this guidance is not available at this time but is
expected to be available shortly. 

     The January through June guidance will not be published by the
Government Printing Office until the guidance for the entire year
has been prepared for publication.  You will be notified when all
of the guidance for 1998 is available for purchase.
