SUBJECT: Introductory Ethics Courses in Washington, DC
The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) will conduct four
introductory ethics training courses June 22-23, 1999 in
Washington, DC. Ethics officials are invited to attend any or all
of the scheduled courses. The course titles, dates, times and
course descriptions are listed below:
Gifts from Outside Sources 06/22/99 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
Gifts Between Employees 06/22/99 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Post Employment 06/23/99 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
Misuse of Position 06/23/99 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
The Gifts from Outside Sources and Gifts Between Employees
courses are designed to provide a general overview of Subparts B
and C of the Standards of Conduct.
The Post Employment course covers the post-employment statute,
18 U.S.C. § 207, and includes student exercises and group
discussion.
The Misuse of Position course provides a broad overview of
Subpart G and includes a four-step approach to determine whether
proposed actions are prohibited by the misuse subpart.
All courses are offered FREE to each agency. However, advance
registration is required. Each person planning to attend MUST
register by faxing a completed registration form to OGE before
Thursday, June 17, 1999. Registration will be handled on a first-
come basis and each course is limited to 40 participants. Please
fax completed registration forms to:

OGE will confirm each student's registration by return fax
prior to the date of the course. Due to the large volume of
registrations, we ask that registrants NOT follow up on
confirmations. NOTE: NO TELEPHONE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

courses, please circulate this memorandum with its attachments
among your ethics officials as soon as possible.
