May 10, 1999 DO-99-023 MEMORANDUM

TO: Designated Agency Ethics Officials

FROM: Stephen D. Potts Director

SUBJECT: Annual Government Ethics Conference, September 13-16, 1999

The Office of Government Ethics (OGE) is pleased to announce this year's Annual Government Ethics Conference, September 13-16, 1999 at the Williamsburg Marriott Hotel, in Williamsburg, Virginia. I hope you will be able to attend. The conference program is designed to provide you with tools to face the ethics program challenges of the new millennium, many of which are with us today.

OGE is currently fine-tuning this year's conference program which will provide enlightening plenary sessions as well as informative concurrent sessions on topics such as privatization, travel and the relevant criminal statutes. For new ethics officials, there are several introductory sessions designed especially for you. As requested, we've also provided ample time for networking and informal discussions of important issues.

Thanks to those of you who have already contributed ideas, suggestions, and/or volunteered to conduct a session. However, it's not too late to submit additional ideas and/or volunteer to lead or participate in a session. Your contributions are always key to the success of our conferences. You may use the attached form to submit your proposals. Additional conference information and registration forms are attached for your convenience. All registrants will receive program information and further conference details in August.

I hope you and your nominee(s) will be able to join us in Williamsburg.
