MEMORANDUM

TO:                Designated Agency Ethics Officials

FROM:          Barbara A. Mullen-Roth

          Associate Director, Education
                                    and Program Services Division

SUBJECT:    11th Annual Government Ethics Conference

          December 4 - 6, 2001

The Office of Government Ethics (OGE) has rescheduled the 11th Annual Government Ethics Conference for December 4-6, 2001 at the Cavalier Hotels in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

We plan to offer the same conference program that was announced for the recently canceled conference in Norfolk. To date, almost every panelist is willing and able to conduct their sessions in Virginia Beach.

As Amy Comstock, Director of OGE, stated in her memo dated September 14, 2001, this conference will serve as the FY 2002 conference, replacing the conference previously scheduled for September 2002. The 12th Annual Government Ethics Conference will be held in FY 2003. OGE regrets that it is unable to provide any type of refund or credit for the recently canceled conference because most of the expense was incurred prior to and during the time we were in Norfolk. However, on a more positive note, the conference fee will be reduced from $300 to $275 and lodging for the Virginia Beach area in December is $55 compared to $109 for September.

The attached conference Information Sheet provides all the logistical information you will need to register and make your own lodging reservations for the 11th Annual Government Ethics Conference. The Conference registration deadline is October 19, 2001 and lodging reservations must be made by November 9, 2001. Due to the short time frame for registering for this conference, please submit your registration forms as soon as possible.
