SUBJECT: Regional Ethics Courses - New York and London
The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) will conduct two
identical one-day courses on "Introduction to Ethics" in New York,
NY on July 15 and 16, 1993; and two identical one-day courses on
"Introduction to Ethics" in London, England on July 20 and 21,
1993.
These courses will provide an overview of Government ethics.
It will focus on standards of conduct and conflict of interest
topics, with lecture, discussion, and case studies. They are
designed for ethics practitioners with basic subject matter
familiarity, who are relatively new to the ethics area or who have
not previously attended OGE training. This would include those who
advise an agency or staff regarding Government ethics and standards
of conduct, those who review financial disclosure reports, and
those who investigate possible violations.
These courses will emphasize the recently published new
standards of conduct regulations. As usual, there is no charge for
attendance. However, advance registration is required.
You are our primary means of advertising these courses. We
ask you to please circulate the attached notice and registration
form among your ethics officials in the New York and London areas
as soon as possible. Each person planning to attend should
register either by mailing or transmitting by facsimile a completed
registration form to arrive at OGE not later than July 2, 1993. No
telephone registrations will be accepted. The mailing address is:

A copy of a completed registration form indicating that the
registrant's planned attendance has been confirmed by OGE will be
sent by facsimile to each registrant prior to the date of the
training course. The copy of the registration form must be
presented by the registrant in order to attend the session.
Please note this training is open ONLY to agency officials who
have (or will have) Government ethics responsibilities; it is NOT
to be used by agencies in fulfilling their training requirements
for employees.
To facilitate your ethics training plans for practitioners, we
intend to conduct training sessions in the field in the following
cities during the remainder of FY 1993: Dallas and New Orleans
(planned for June), and Minneapolis and Kansas City (planned for
August). As soon as dates are in place, you will be sent
announcements.
