March 17, 2000 DT-00-010 MEMORANDUM TO: Designated Agency Ethics Officials FROM: Barbara A. Mullen-Roth Associate Director for Education SUBJECT: Last Chance to Order "Ethics: Know the Code" The deadline for ordering the newest Office of Government Ethics (OGE) ethics video, "Ethics: Know the Code," is fast approaching. The initial announcement, dated January 24, 2000 (DT- 00-002), indicated that, due to special licensing requirements pertaining to the use of the DILBERT animated characters, all orders for the video must be received on or before April 15, 2000. This motivational video focuses on the "Code of Ethics" as embodied in the 14 Principles of Ethical Conduct. The video casts Stephen D. Potts, Director of OGE, opposite the comic strip characters, DILBERT and Dogbert in a debate over the question: "Do Government employees know 'The Code?' " One of the highlights of this new video is a montage of real Government employees from 10 different agencies and their candid and honest comments on the basic principles of ethical conduct. With a running time of approximately 12 minutes, this video is ideally suited for use both as an introduction to annual ethics briefings and as an orientation for new employees. The cost is $20.00 plus shipping (details on attached order form). Orders are being collected by OGE and forwarded to INFOCUS in Herndon, VA, the distributor for the video. Please use the attached order form and fax it back to Kaneisha Cunningham by April 15, 2000 on 202-208-8039. OGE would appreciate receiving your feedback on this video. A short evaluation form is attached for employees to complete after they have watched the video. Instructions for returning the evaluations to OGE can be found on the form. Attachments
