MEMORANDUM FOR DESIGNATED AGENCY ETHICS OFFICIALS
FROM: STEPHEN D. POTTS
DIRECTOR
SUBJECT: Compliance with the Regulatory Deadline for
Submission of the Annual Agency Ethics Report
The Annual Agency Ethics Program Questionnaire, which was
transmitted as an attachment to the Office of Government Ethics
(OGE) memorandum dated October 15, 1992, must be filed with OGE on
or before February 1, 1993.
Responses to this questionnaire will constitute each executive
agency's annual report required by section 402(e) (1) of the Ethics
in Government Act of 1978, as amended. The annual regulatory
deadline is found in 5 C.F.R. § 2638.602, which states that each
agency shall file a report with OGE on or before February 1.
To ensure compliance with the February 1 deadline, OGE is
issuing this memorandum as a reminder. In addition, this
memorandum is to alert Designated Agency Ethics Officials (DAEOs)
that failure to submit the questionnaire to OGE by February 1 will
result in a letter addressed to the head of the agency with a copy
to the DAEO. This letter shall state that the agency is not in
compliance with the statutory requirements, and shall also
underscore the importance of timely filing of this questionnaire.
Questionnaires should be submitted directly to Jennifer
Russell in OGE's Office of Education. If you have any questions
about the content of the questionnaire, please contact Jennifer
Russell (202) 523-5757, extension 1111. If you have any questions
about the regulatory deadline, please contact Cecilia Owens (202)
523-5757, extension 1118.
