MEMORANDUM FOR DESIGNATED AGENCY ETHICS OFFICIALS
FROM: STUART C. GILMAN
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR EDUCATION
SUBJECT: OGE is in the Process of Amending the Ethics
Training Regulation.
OGE is in the process of amending the regulation on Executive
Agency Ethics Training Programs (57 Federal Register 11886-11891
(April 7, 1992)) to provide that the initial ethics orientation
will not have to be completed until February 3, 1993. Although
§ 2638.703 (a) and (b) of the regulation cites January 2, 1993,
this date is being changed to February 3 to reflect the publication
of the Standards of Ethical Conduct.
In addition, the regulation (as explained last April in the
preamble) is now being amended to include the new Standards of
Ethical Conduct among the initial ethics orientation materials and
as part of the minimum requirements for annual ethics training. OGE
expects to publish these revisions in the Federal Register next
week.
If you have any questions about the extension or the training plans
please call Cecilia Owens or Jennifer Russell of my staff at
(202)523-5757, extension 1118 or 1111 respectively.
