Success Stories

The main objective of the CWT program is the personal enhancement of participating veterans. We strive to provide an effective and efficient solution for each stakeholder and in doing so, we have developed a history of success for veterans and organizations. We would like to share some of these real stories of achievement with you. A heartwarming story about a homeless veteran who found not only a job but so much more. This is a story about a special veteran who participated in the CWT program. He found an unexpected welcome from the community and from the VA "brotherhood".

My Way Back
"Everybody has dreams and goals, and I'm trying to find my way back," he said. He is an Army veteran and has always dreamed of opening his own vehicle detail shop. He encountered a few bumps along the way, but now believes he is back on track.

Fifty-one years old, donning glasses, a tie, a business shirt and slacks, he will take the stage again tomorrow with his electric guitar. That guitar was at the top of the veteran's inventory list - the list of things that are, as he says, "going right in my life," what he's thankful for, and what has been brought back into his life by sobriety.

Heart of Anchorage
CWT at the Alaska VA Healthcare System and Regional office was nominated, along with Assets, Inc. (a local community agency working with disabled citizens), for a "Heart of Anchorage" award in the "Outstanding Community Service" category for their collaborative efforts with Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. The Heart of Anchorage Awards recognize individuals, organizations and businesses, who invested their time and energy into making Downtown Anchorage a better place to live, work, play and learn.
