Reasonable Accommodation
Telework may be a short-term solution for accommodating an employee who is temporarily unable to come to the main worksite, but is capable of working. For example, someone who has undergone a surgical procedure and is required to stay off their feet for some period of time may be able to telework and remain productive, rather than having to use sick leave.
Telework may also be used as a reasonable accommodation, for a current employee or for a new recruit with a more permanent mobility issue or other relevant disability.
