The OIG’s audits and reviews protect assets and revenue, ensure efficient and economical mail delivery, and safeguard the integrity of the Postal Service system. The Special Projects directorate assists the Office of Audit (OA) in focusing on its key strategic vision by serving on cross-functional group initiatives. The directorate analyzes, summarizes, and trends data to identify potential audits and investigations, which lead to positive outcomes for the U.S. Postal Service. The directorate also serves as a liaison between the OA and other OIG components and provides expert services such as statistical sampling design and analysis, cost benefit analysis, and general quantitative assistance to these components.
