This handbook is designed for use by members of the Forest Service, U. S. Department of Agriculture.
It shows the organization of the Forest Service with the addresses and telephone numbers of the main field offices, and also for each Ranger District.
This Directory lists personnel chiefly responsible for the various units, key functions, program managers, and/or research projects and the support person that reports directly to the head of the unit only by the following guidelines:
Washington Office -- personnel from the Chief down to the Deputy or WO Staff Director, Administrative Assistants, Branch Chief/Group Leaders and principal staff at the GS-13 levels only and above.
Regions/Stations/Area/IITF -- personnel from the Regional Forester, Station Director, Area Director, IITF Director through Branch Chiefs/Group Leaders, their principle administrative Assistants, and their principal staff. Principal Staff are those who have functional responsibilities equivalent to Section Heads or Programs Manager at the GS-12 level and above.
Forests/Districts/Research Laboratories/Job Corps Centers/Remote site work units, etc. -- lists unit leaders and/or principle staff. Principle staff is generally at GS-11 and above. Principle administrative assistants to line officers are also listed.
