MEMORANDUM
TO: Designated Agency Ethics Officials
FROM: Stephen D. Potts
Director
SUBJECT: 1995 Annual Government Ethics Conference,
September 12-15, 1995
The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) is pleased to
announce this year's Annual Government Ethics Conference at the
Williamsburg Marriott (formerly Williamsburg Hilton) in
Williamsburg, VA, September 12-15, 1995.
The 1995 Conference Planning Committee has already begun
developing this year's conference program and promises to deliver
two and a half days of useful, insightful and stimulating sessions.
This year's program will include a mix of working sessions,
speakers and possibly some debates. Additionally, the Committee
plans to include a single session to attempt to answer some of the
most difficult ethics questions you face in your agencies. Please
submit any questions that you would like the Committee to consider
including in this session with your registration form.
NOMINATING CONFERENCE REGISTRANTS:
To ensure executive branchwide representation at the
conference, each Designated Agency Ethics Official (DAEO) is
invited to nominate conference registrants by completing the
attached registration form. As in the past, the number of
registrants you may nominate is based on agency size:
Agency Size Number of Registrants
1,000 or less employees 1
1,001 - 25,000 employees 5
25,001 or more employees 10
You may specify two additional nominees in priority order, to
attend the conference. Space permitting, these nominees may be
contacted to attend the conference.
REGISTRATION PROCEDURES:
Because registrations are accepted on a first-come basis, it
is important that you notify your nominee(s) as soon as possible of
their selection to attend the conference. Furnish them with the
attached registration form and have them mail the form along with
their method of payment (SF 182, DD Form 1556, purchase order,
personal check or money order) as soon as possible to:
Sheila A. Powers
Conference and Training Coordinator
U.S. Office of Government Ethics
1201 New York Avenue, NW. - Suite 500
Washington, DC 20005-3917
REGISTRATION FORMS AND PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED BY FRIDAY,
JULY 7, 1995.
BILLING PROCEDURES:
Our preferred method for collecting the registration fee is
through the On-line Payment and Collection (OPAC) system. If your
agency is serviced through OPAC, it is important that you include
your 8-digit agency location code (ALC) and billing address in
blocks 24 and 25, respectively, on the SF 182, or in the case of a
purchase order, whichever block is appropriate. Failure to provide
this information may delay the registration process for your
registrant(s). Your budget officer should be able to furnish your
agency's ALC number. If your agency is not serviced through OPAC,
please provide the name and phone number of a contact person who
can resolve any billing questions.
CONFERENCE FEE:
This year's conference registration fee is $235 per attendee
(the same low price as last year). This conference fee includes:
registration, materials, and meals (three breakfasts, two lunches,
one dinner, one reception). The fee does NOT include lodging.
LODGING:
Please make your hotel reservations directly with the
Williamsburg Marriott by calling 804-220-2500. The current per
diem rate is $74/night. Please identify your affiliation with the
Government Ethics Conference. All lodging registrations must be
made by Friday, August 11, 1995. After August 11, rooms will be
released and there will be no lodging guarantee.
At the time of registering for lodging, the Marriott will
provide registrants a confirmation number guaranteeing a room.
Hotel lodging registrations will also be accepted on a first-come
basis. When the Marriott is full, it will refer overflow lodging
requests to a nearby Courtyard by Marriott, also offering the per
diem rate of $74/night, and registration deadline of August 11.
NOTE: The hotels are authorized to waive Virginia state tax
ONLY with the use of a Government VISA (IMPAC) credit card or
Government purchase order.
CANCELLATIONS/REFUNDS:
OGE does not have the ability to return conference fees once
they have been submitted. Therefore, under no circumstances can
OGE provide refunds for cancellations or conference "no shows."
However, in the event of an emergency situation where your
conference attendee cannot attend (after making their reservation
and submitting payment), they may send a substitute registrant by
faxing the appropriate information to Sheila Powers (202-523-1251),
as soon as possible.
