KENAI: New Cabin available for Kenai Refuge Visitors
Alaska Region, August 25, 2008
Print Friendly Version
This new cabin will be popular with waterfowl hunters.
This new cabin will be popular with waterfowl hunters.

A new cabin was contructed in August 2008 on Pincher Creek on Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. built under the Refuge's approved cabin management plan, this cabin replaces an unsafe structure that was very popular with hunters on Chickaloon Flats. This cabin presented more than it's share of challenges for park ranger Gary Titus, who manages the cabin program, and his crew. Assistant Fire Management Officer Diane MacLean supervised the helicopeter operations which hauled the cabin materials in to the site. Many of the logs had to be shaped by hand in order to assure a tight fit. The cabin will be available for reservation on September 15th. Kenai Refuge has fourteen cabins available for public use.
