Journal Entry   Back TETLIN: Invasive Plants Documented Along the Alaska Highway Alaska Region, September 27, 2005 Print Friendly Version This summer marked the second field season spent surveying for invasive plant species along the Alaska Highway. The Alaska Highway borders Tetlin Refuge along its northern boundary, and is a vector for the spread of such species. Protocols followed the Alaska Exotic Plants Information Clearinghouse. The Refuge surveyed 20 miles of the Highway over the past two years. Personnel from Wilderness Volunteers also assisted in surveying road-accessible campgrounds and pullouts. The most prevalent invasive species encountered was white sweet clover. Other species observed include common yarrow, common plantain, and yellow sweet clover.
