Journal Entry   Back Anchorage High School Students Discuss Land Management Priorities Alaska Region, March 18, 2005 Print Friendly Version High school students participated in a lively discussion with Maeve Taylor, of Visitor Services, while learning about careers in the Fish and Wildlife Service on the Friday before spring break. Discussion topics included national wildlife refuge land use, endangered species law, and how to become a Fish and Wildlife Service employee. The 32 students in Friday's discussions are enrolled in Mike Wood's Natural Resources Management course at Anchorage's King Career Center. These students spend half of their school day for their entire junior or senior year learning about a variety of natural resource topics and careers. Friday's presentation was part of a curriculum designed to introduce the students to the different natural resource agencies who manage land in Alaska. The students will continue their education into the Fish and Wildlife Service by researching individual Alaskan national wildlife refuges and their land management issues.
