Transportation Librarians Roundtable
Makes Its Debut on October 11, 2007

The first presentation of the Transportation Librarians Roundtable (TLR), a monthly webconference series, will take place on Thursday, October 11, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. EDT.

The topic for the presentation is Engineering a Transportation Information Infrastructure: The Landscape of Information Activities and the scheduled speaker is Amanda J. Wilson, Director of the National Transportation Library (NTL) of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics. She will discuss the new “Networking Information” section on NTL’s website and also provide an overview of all the transportation information/library coordination efforts currently underway.

The newly established TLR is co-sponsored by NTL, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), the Transportation Research Board, and the Special Libraries Association’s Transportation Division.

The TLR’s purpose will be to provide transportation librarians with opportunities to learn more about issues of mutual concern and interest, and also to have a new means of regular communication among members of that community.

The TLR will be held the second Thursday of each month for one hour starting at 2:00 p.m. EDT. Those wishing to participate on October 11 as well as in subsequent TLR sessions can do so by accessing http://fhwa.acrobat.com/translibrarian/. Please visit http://admin.acrobat.com/common/help/en/support/meeting_test.htm to help ensure that your system is properly configured for participation in the webconference. In addition, the teleconference number for accessing the audio portion of each month’s session will be distributed in October.
