Timeline

To ensure timely processing and prompt access to the grant funds, the Department of Education strongly suggests that all applications be submitted by June 1, 2009.

The U.S. Congress, in The Omnibus Appropriations Act, 2009 (Public Law 111-08), directed the Office of Postsecondary Education of the Department of Education to award grants to 331 institutions and organizations. Only those institutions named in the list below may apply for these grants. Recipient institutions should review the materials below before preparing an application. The application itself must be completed and submitted through the Department of Education's e-Grants system, at http://e-grants.ed.gov.

NOTE: Letters inviting applications for Congressionally-directed grants will be mailed to the president or chief executive officer of each named recipient organization during the last week of April. The Department will use the 2008 Higher Education Directory and/or organizational Web pages as sources for addressing these letters. If an institution does not receive notification by May 2009 and knows that it was included in the Omnibus Appropriations Act, 2009 then it should contact FIPSE directly.
