The Kansas City District Office offers an instructional course entitled Basic Workshop for Agency Compensation Specialists. This course is intended for employees who are responsible for processing Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA) claims. The instructors are experienced and knowledgeable senior claims personnel.

The training provides an overview of our program and will assist agencies with the management of their workers' compensation claims and provide correct processing techniques to help control compensation costs. Some of the topics typically covered include: claim form completion, record keeping and documentation, types of claims and conditions of coverage, continuation of pay, medical benefits, permanent partial disability, leave reinstatement, and compensation claims processing. It is anticipated that as a result of the workshop the participant will expand their knowledge base and reduce the amount of time it takes to process claims. An added benefit is that a closer working relationship will be established between the Kansas City District Office and agency personnel.

There is no tuition charge for the course. The District Office will provide textbooks, forms, and other informational material. Since the training is being held in Kansas City, individual employing agencies must cover any associated travel expense and per diem costs for their participants. Training may be held at an agency's location if there is sufficient agency participation.

Kansas City Training Dates - 2009 :

March 24 through March 26
May 26 through May 28
July 21 through July 23
October 20 through October 22

We also conduct a Workshop for Supervisors that is approximately 4 hours in length and provides a general overview of supervisory responsibilities, compensation law, philosophy, benefits and common claim forms. Attendance must include 20-25 supervisors before this type of training can be held at your location.
